Children and Parenting Support (CAPs)

Days: Monday—Friday
Times: 8am—4.30pm
Ages: All

Our Children and Parenting Support (CAPs) Program is here to walk alongside families, offering practical help, guidance, and connection to services.

We have a friendly and dedicated team made up of one Family Engagement Worker, an Aboriginal Liaison Officer, and a Family Services Manager. We walk alongside families to build on their strengths, develop family functioning, strengthen parenting skills, and working towards creating safe, stable home environments.

Our program focuses on:

  • Supporting positive parent–child relationships

  • Building confidence and independence to access community services

  • Encouraging education, employment, and family functioning for both child and parent

  • Connecting families with referrals for additional therapeutic supports

  • Developing and identifying natural networks

  • Providing advocacy

Our approach is family-led, trauma-informed, and culturally safe, helping parents feel supported and empowered to create positive futures. This is offered through one-to-one services delivery with personalised case plans and goal setting.

We accept referrals from external agencies as well as individual referrals. Referral forms are available here and should be emailed through to: referrals@byfh.org.au. Otherwise, pop in to 38 Blackman Street and one of our staff can help you out!

Children and Parenting Program is funded by the Department of Social Services.
