Children and Parenting Support (CAPs)

Days: Monday—Friday
Times: 8am—4.30pm
Ages: All

Our Children and Parenting Support (CAPs) Program is here to walk alongside families, offering practical help, guidance, and connection to services.

We have a friendly and dedicated team made up of two Family Engagement Officers, an Aboriginal Liaison Officer, and a Family Services Manager. Together, we work with you over a flexible, client-led 10-week process. Every plan is tailored to your family’s needs.

How we can help:

  • Support with parenting and family relationships

  • Help to access housing, food, or legal services

  • Pre- and post-natal support for young parents

  • Referrals to counselling, playgroups, and other local services

  • Linking you to resources such as GIVIT or community programs

We work closely with other organisations so you don’t have to navigate services on your own. Our “joined-up” approach means we connect you to the right support at the right time.

This year, we’ve helped families with food security, housing issues, and Violence Restraining Orders. We’ve also run activities to bring people together, like weaving workshops in partnership with the Kimberley Arts Network and Anglicare – building skills, connection, and confidence.

Whether you need help in a crisis, or just someone to guide you through a challenge, CAPs is here to support you in building strength, resilience, and independence. We accept referrals from external agencies as well as individual referrals. Referral forms are available here and should be emailed through to: referrals@byfh.org.au. Otherwise, pop in to 38 Blackman Street and one of our staff can help you out!

Children and Parenting Program is funded by the Department of Social Services.
